영은미술관은 수묵의 현대적 사유를 확장해 온 구모경의 개인전 《Timberline(수목한계선)》을 개최한다. 소백산 설경이라는 구상에서 출발해 추상으로 진화해 온 작가는 수묵에 백토(白土)를 더해 화면에 절제된 밀도와 깊이를 부여한다. 전시 제목 'Timberline'은 나무가 더 이상 생존할 수 없는 수목한계선을 뜻하며, 삶의 가능성을 규정하는 보이지 않는 조건들을 은유한다. 화면 속 먹 역시 번짐 끝에 스스로 멈추며 무위(無爲)에 가까운 자연스러운 경계를 형성한다. 전시장 곳곳의 의자 오브제는 머무름에 대한 물음을 실재의 차원으로 끌어내며, 우리가 이미 서 있는 자리를 다시 사유하도록 이끈다. 나아감과 멈춤 그 사이(間)에서 보이지 않는 것들의 존재감을 가만히 응시하는 자리가 되기를 기대한다.

Youngeun Museum of Contemporary Art presents Timberline, a solo exhibition by Gu Mokyoung. Evolving from representational snowscapes into abstraction, the artist introduces white clay, Baekto (白土), to traditional ink wash for depth and density. The title Timberline refers to the boundary beyond which trees cannot grow—a metaphor for unseen conditions of life. Ink on the canvas spreads before naturally coming to rest, forming a boundary akin to Muwi (無爲). Chair objects throughout the gallery bring questions of dwelling into physical space, inviting viewers to reconsider the ground on which they already stand. The exhibition prompts us to contemplate the invisible in the space, Gan (間), between moving forward and coming to a halt.
