Youngeun Museum of Contemporary Art presents the two-person exhibition [Companionship: The Calling and Value of Art] 

featuring artists Suk Ran Hi and Yang Young Hoe. This exhibition, a mother-daughter show with Suk Ran Hi, a prominent senior abstract painter in Korea, 

and Yang Young Hoe, a mid-career sculptor, will take place in the 4th exhibition hall, 

showcasing Suk Ran Hi’s abstract paintings and drawings from her  series alongside Yang Young Hoe’s sculptural works from her  and  series.

Suk Ran Hi’s  series, a subject she has explored consistently for over 60 years, embodies the core inspiration behind her artistic practice 

and reveals itself in her unique abstract forms. Suk Ran Hi uses oil on canvas as her medium. 

Through her energetic brushstrokes, she conveys the essence and energy of nature, presenting a distinct abstract world 

that harmonizes elements of both Eastern and Western art traditions.

On the other hand, Yang Young Hoe has delved deeply into the theme of ‘time’ within the realm of sculpture. 

The traces and time embedded in objects come alive in her sculptural works. In this exhibition, she presents her  series, 

where the new and the old converge, along with her  works, where smaller units combine to form more giant sculptures.

The works of these two artists, each creating their unique visual worlds, 

represent a constant battle with themselves and a dedication to their calling as artists.

Visitors can perceive the artists’ struggles through their artworks and receive an energy that transcends any other medium. 

The exhibition aims to convey the energy and messages these two artists have exchanged, 

not only as fellow creators but also as a family, as they have passionately pursued the calling and value of art.
